P. Terry's, Mmm

I can't believe I've gotten this far without posting actual pictures of the food at our favorite place EVER in Austin, P. Terry's. Here are some close ones. The problem may be that we scarf the food down quicker than we're able to take a picture of it.

The deliciousness that is the P. Terry's veggie burger. Even for non-vegans like Brando and I, it's meaty and filling enough to order on the days we like to feel extra healthy.
Why P. Terry's is yummy. And can I also say one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I've only had the pleasure of talking to him many of the hundred times we've been there and he's been watching his baby, making sure it grows in the way that is P. Terry's.
Mmmm, fries. Fresh cut. Perfectly fried to a tender crisp in non yukky oil. Perfectly salted. Generally disappear in 2.4 seconds to the person who finishes their hamburger first. Not much more can I say.
Okay, we're a little obsessed with P. Terry's. There's a reason for the In N Out cult following in California. We're just starting the P. Terry's cult following in Texas. Well, us, and the probably hundreds of thousands who discovered it shortly after we did.

Renewing our Vows

Found the place where we'll be renewing our vows! Our friends conveniently reserved the place for their own wedding last year and had to use the place in order to get their refund back. Saved us the photography fee, as they were an hour late, and we had the place all to ourselves for a personal photo shoot at sunset (these are mine, Brando's will make their way into another post).

Playing in Puddles

It's been awhile since Brando picked up his camera. Things have been busy around here. Since it's been raining so much I've been dying for him to pick up the camera and go play in the rain. It wasn't raining when we did this, but puddles are still fun! This has to be my favorite shot from the day - at Gap, buying the boys pants before we went and played. Speaking of buying pants at Gap - did you know you can get them for the same price as Old Navy and Wal-mart but they last a hell of a lot longer and fit a lot better.

This is another favorite. I love how it turned out in black and white.
Puddles!

So stole this pose from the September issue. Now where's my cameraman?

Weekends I Love

So many AWESOME events going on this week, including the fabulous three free ones tomorrow (see previous post), Wednesday, September 23rd!! All QUITE fabulousness that my dear friends, I am sorry to say, I will see little of.

You see there's this little thing called school that has been occupying my lovely, little life lately with all sorts of fabulous new friends I study with, eat lunch with, lament and hurrah about study-filled weekends with, and generally am fully occupied with. Thus, my sweet events I love so, so dearly are suffering from my absence. oh, economy, don't ever be in such a good spot that these ah-mazing events go away. In fact, may they stay around to keep the balance of our economy firmly planted.

Pictures of our last fabulousness excursion at Alamo Drafthouse.
Watching the incredibly awesome September Issue - an absolute must see. It's the documentary style movie of Anna Wintour, real life Devil Wears Prada, the editor of Vogue. Only I venture to say it is wayyyyy better than Devil Wears Prada, and believe it or not, Anna Wintour herself is even more frighteningly powerful - definitely a fascinating look into the behind the scenes of the fashion world.
Our delicious hummus plate with olive oil, fresh, crisp veggies, warm slices of pita bread, and lemonade at the Alamo. Who knew Alamo could do healthy? Oh, who am I kidding, Alamo can do it all.
We had a bit of an incident with our umbrellas. Mai and I were sad because ours were broken. Pout.Dani and Kiley, on the other hand, were the happiest of happiest with their fun, colorful umbrellas. And, wow, they did fabulous at that photo - I laugh every time I look at it.This picture is permanently impressed upon my mind as a bittersweet memory until Mai gets back from Australia!!

This Saturday, September 19:
  • This one's from Mai - reaching out to us from the outback, hehe. She says, "Knuckle rumbler party! I love this group, they throw kick ass parties during SXSW and through out the year!", and I totally agree with her. They throw some awesome parties. Theirs was one of my favorites from Austin Fashion Week, and that was fashion week, people. “This month’s event is presented by the woodgrained and recently redesigned Austin Town Hall with support from Sweet Leaf Tea, Lone Star Beer, and Brightkite.” Sept. 19, 6-9PM @ Tripp’s Tshirts, 2405 Nueces Ste. H. More info about this benefit for AIDs services of Austin here.
  • This one actually costs money - horrors!! But it sounded too fun not to include. Feeling crafty? We are! Join us this Saturday, September 19th from 7pm-12am, at the We Make Stuff… music, art, & fashion show presented by Electric Promotions. It will be a bash bursting at the handmade seams. Fashionistas, mad crafters, music lovers and skateboarders will converge at The Scoot Inn for a completely one-of-a-kind party – the kind where you can design your own t-shirt, take in a band and see a fashion show. Austin Tidbits Fall Fete at y&i

Last night got me so excited about posting, I just couldn't give that last post time to soak in! Austin Tidbits (a site I just now discovered while looking up the origins of their event at y&i) threw a Fall Fete this Thursday at y&i - a clothing store on the north end of South Congress I've been dying to visit but just hadn't made it up that far on South Congress yet. Fortunately Dripping Springs offering coffee liquer vodkas,
cosmos, martinis, Mama Fu's amazing basil spring rolls - so light and healthy tasting,
and seared ahi tuna,
made it super easy to get on over there already.

I instantly fell in love with y&i's sweet mix of Texan and California style (yes, that is Mai improving it with both drinks)
and Texan and California prices as well. Read: some items are actually affordable, versus Texan high couture tends to be way overpriced. Yes, that's me saying shopping is WAY more affordable, and WAY more accessibly stylish in Cali than Texas. Thanks, in large part to fashion week and all the amazing women entrepeneurs I'm slowly discovering in town, Texas is definitely on it's way! One of the owners, Robin Boesch, unpretentious attitude and introduction of herself to us was a pleasant surprise. Completely down to earth, and real, and more than happy to discuss the fact she was looking to provide high fashion for a reasonable price.
I love their setup - clean and simple without being too stark.
Just enough product to have more and more to ooh and ahh over at every turn, but not enough to feel overwhelmed.
Speaking of ooohing and ahhhing the gift bags - oh, the gift bags! y&i gave out gift bags to the first fifty customers and Mai, Dani, and I were lucky enough to be one of those first fifty.
Okay, we planned. C'mon now, you know me and crowds better - I like to get there before the crowd and stake my claim, then clearout just as the rest of the world discovers what I've already experienced. We saved checking out the bags for when we got home - tons of Hollywood goodies, bangles, earrings, hair product from Kevin Murphy and Tisa at Salon Aura, as well as a therapy treatment and blowout from Tisa as well. Can't wait to try that out! Other fun things in the bag included Garment Guard, Tip Toes, Gal Pals garment protector, Pocksie, Low Beams, the Strapper, and possibly my favorite - a gift certificate to y&i!! Totally excited to use them all and review them as I do : ) !!
We did decide to sit down and peek thru the loot a little while we were still there,
before we took off for the Austin Tweet Up social!! Yay!

Submerged hosted Austin's Tweet Up social this Thursday evening, which was basically a big social excuse to meet up with Stephanie from Colours Marie again.
We ended up chatting with her most of the night and her sweet boy, Tim,
except for a short break when I snagged Lori at As You Wish doing the photo booth and made us take a picture holding a frame.
After a quick Amy's ice cream run we called it a night, until The September Issue, and dinner tomorrow! If you want to join text me if you have my cell number, or leave a comment with your email address.
